Certified Mechatronics Engineer
Journeyman Electrician

A licensed home inspector and native of Western North Carolina, I have been immersed in the construction industry from a young age. My experience spans various roles, including roofing, framing, and drywall, before I discovered my passion for electrical work. This journey led me to a position as a mechatronics engineer with a German automotive company, where I honed my skills further. However, my true calling has always been to build and assist others. Today, I combine my diverse expertise and keen attention to detail as a licensed home and commercial inspector, dedicated to helping you with one of your most significant investments—your home. In my free time, I enjoy playing the drums, riding mountain bikes and motorcycles, and restoring classic British cars.

🤖 Meet the Wombat: A smarter way to inspect your crawlspaces!

Not every part of a home is easy to access, but that doesn’t mean it should be overlooked.

At Frame Home Inspections, Sam Frame uses the Wombat Robot by Uplink Robotics to explore crawlspaces and help inspect areas that can be difficult to reach.

Equipped with a high-definition camera and bright LED lights, the Wombat helps Sam view and document visible conditions involving moisture, plumbing, framing, insulation and more. All with clear photos and video.

It’s another way we combine modern technology with a thorough approach to home inspections. 🏠
Because what’s happening underneath your home matters, too!

"New Construction Doesn’t Need an Inspection"

❌ MYTH: “It’s brand new, so it doesn’t need an inspection.”

✅ FACT: Even newly built homes can have hidden issues, including missing insulation, improper grading, faulty wiring, and other construction defects.

Did you know? Even brand-new homes can have major hidden defects.
Many homebuyers assume that purchasing a newly constructed house means everything is flawless. But the reality is: builders are busy, and subcontractors sometimes make mistakes.

You should consider inspecting before closing because;

an independent home inspection can help identify potential issues while the builder may still be responsible for addressing them.

Buying new construction? Always schedule an independent third-party inspection BEFORE closing.

This gives you maximum leverage to have the builder fix any defects while they are still legally responsible. It will save you time, stress, and thousands in out-of-pocket repairs later.

Smoke alarms: check the date, they don't last forever.

"October is Fire Prevention Month, and this week is Fire Prevention Week. Here are 5 things we look at on every inspection that could protect your home:

1. Smoke and CO detectors: test them monthly and check the date stamp. Replace after about 10 years.
2. Dryer vents: lint buildup is a real fire risk.
3. Overloaded outlets and power strips.
4. Electrical panel: scorch marks, loose wiring, or double-tapped breakers.
5. Furnace and water heater clearances.

I used to do this for a living. 🤘

Touring, playing shows, traveling from city to city, and being part of a rock band that was fortunate enough to have some real success.

At first glance, that world probably doesn’t have much in common with what I do today.

But the older I get, the more I realize I never really started over.

I just changed stages.

Being a professional musician taught me how to communicate with all kinds of people, work as part of a team, handle pressure, solve problems on the fly, show up prepared, build relationships, and perform when people are counting on me.

Those skills didn’t disappear when the touring stopped.

They transferred.

Careers can change. Industries can change. Your title can change.

But the skills you build along the way come with you.

Sometimes the next chapter isn’t starting from scratch.

It’s realizing that everything you’ve already done prepared you for it.

Funny how skills from one career can follow you into another.

After years as a professional musician, I never expected some of the most valuable things I learned on stage to translate so well into home inspection.

Communication. Reading the room. Staying calm under pressure. Knowing when to speak, when to listen, and how to explain something in a way people can actually understand.

Those “soft skills” matter when you’re helping someone navigate one of the biggest purchases they’ll ever make.

But don’t mistake soft skills for an easy profession. Getting licensed as a home inspector was one of the hardest tests I’ve ever taken. The amount of knowledge you’re expected to have across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, structure, building science and more is no joke.

The technical knowledge helps me find the problems.

The people skills help me explain what those problems actually mean.

That’s a big part of why I believe in education over fear.

Different stage. Same goal: know your craft, communicate clearly, and take care of the people who trusted you to do the job.

🏡 Another home inspected. Another buyer walking away with a better understanding of their investment.

A home inspection isn’t about creating fear or handing you a list of problems—it’s about education, clarity, and confidence.

At Frame Home Inspections, my goal is to help you understand the home you’re buying, what matters now, what can wait, and what you should plan for down the road.

Education over fear. Protect your investment. Know what you’re buying.
