Last night, we witnessed God's protection in a powerful way.
A fire broke out in one of our recovery program buildings during the early morning hours. By God's grace, everyone was safely evacuated, and no one was injured.
We're especially proud of the men in this program, whose quick response to a frightening situation ensured everyone got out safe. Their resilience, patience, and trust shone through. Our staff immediately stepped in to support guests through the transition, offering reassurance, care, and stability during what could be a very unsettling experience. The Bellingham Fire Department responded within five minutes (thank you!).
For many of the people we serve, emergencies like this can be especially difficult after experiencing the trauma of homelessness. While the building sustained damage, we're incredibly grateful that our new facility enables the flexibility to quickly relocate this program. Your support makes it possible for us to respond with compassion, provide a safe place to stay, and continue serving without interruption when the unexpected happens.
Today, we're thankful for the quick actions of our guests and team, the safety of every guest and staff member, and the many ways God continues to provide.
Please join us in praying for the men affected by this event, for our staff as they care for them, and for wisdom as we begin the restoration process.
❤️ Thank you for standing with the Mission and helping ensure that hope, shelter, and care remain available when they're needed most.
