If you’ve never been to Wild Rumpus, here’s how it works. You don’t stand on the sidewalk and watch. You put on a costume (or not), find the crowd, and walk with them. That’s the whole idea, and it’s one of my favorite Athens traditions.
A few things to know:
The Rumpus Rally starts at 5 p.m. outside Creature Comforts on W. Hancock Ave. Music, a food truck, and a lot of very creative costumes.
The parade kicks off at 8 p.m. sharp and winds through downtown on Pulaski, Clayton, and Washington.
It’s free. If you want a b**r or w**e in the festival zone, wristbands are $10.
Parking downtown will be tough. Walk, carpool, or grab a ride if you can.
This is the 18th year, and it still feels like the most Athens night of the year. If you’re new in town, go. You’ll get it right away.
See you out there 🎃
