𝗨𝗻𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯. 👀
You can absolutely buy or sell a house without a Realtor.
Just like you can absolutely cut your own hair.
Would I recommend giving yourself a completely new hairstyle the night before family pictures? Probably not. 😂
But can you give yourself a little trim? Absolutely.
My point? Not every situation is the same, and not every situation requires the same level of expertise.
I've been in real estate for over seven years, and I can tell you firsthand that experience matters. There are things I've learned in this business that no textbook could ever teach me.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
A long résumé doesn't necessarily tell you how someone will treat you. Will they answer your questions? Advocate for you when things get complicated? Treat your $200,000 purchase with the same care as a million-dollar transaction?
Those things matter, too.
And here's another opinion that might be unpopular:
𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.
You should never feel obligated to work with someone simply because you know them. But if that person is knowledgeable, honest, hardworking, and genuinely cares about your best interests, why wouldn't you consider them?
When did having a personal relationship with someone become a reason to question their professional abilities?
There's nothing wrong with supporting the people you love, especially when they've worked hard to build something they're proud of.
And that brings me to something I've been thinking about lately.
𝗜𝗳 𝗜 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆.
I want it built on relationships, trust, hard work, and people who genuinely WANT to work with me.
Not because they felt obligated. Not because I had the most impressive résumé. And certainly not because I convinced them they couldn't do it without me.
But because they liked me. Because they trusted me. Because they knew I cared about them and would work hard for them.
I want people to feel like they have someone in their corner. Someone who will tell them the truth, even when it's not what they want to hear, and genuinely celebrate their wins.
𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲. 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗲.
Because you shouldn't have to diminish someone else's abilities to demonstrate your own value.
And the best reputation you can build isn't just that you're good at what you do.
𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿. ❤️
