There's something rather special about Arnside's railway viaduct...
For more than 160 years, trains have been crossing the Kent Estuary on their way between Lancashire and Cumbria.
And what a view passengers must enjoy!
The viaduct has become one of Arnside's most recognisable landmarks, stretching across the estuary towards Grange-over-Sands, with the ever-changing tides and Lakeland fells providing a spectacular backdrop.
Whether you're watching a train cross from the promenade or travelling across it yourself, it's one of those sights that never seems to lose its charm.
And there's something wonderfully nostalgic about the sound of a train crossing the estuary on a quiet afternoon.
❤️ We'd love to know — have you ever travelled across Arnside Viaduct by train, or do you prefer admiring it from the promenade?
