With a big home renovation like this, especially when you’re adding a whole second storey, you can expect a few surprises once the walls are open.

This home had been added onto over the years, so there were layers of framing and quite a bit that was out of square. One of the first things we had to do was level the floors and square up the structure.

It’s not the part of a second-storey addition you’ll see in the finished photos, but it’s what helps everything come together properly.

Our North Burnaby home renovation project is in the messy stage right now, but you can already see what it’s making room for.

We’re adding a rec room, gym and workshop, with a full deck above to take in those mountain views. Before we can pour concrete, we’re digging for new footings to strengthen the existing foundation and support the addition.

A lot of rubble today. A lot more room to live in soon. We’ll keep sharing how this home comes together.

This home in Edgemont has been in our clients’ family for generations, and they really wanted to keep it that way. The only problem was, the original one-storey bungalow just wasn’t big enough for their growing family anymore.

So we’re adding a full second storey, giving them the extra space they need as their family grows.

There’s been a pretty big transformation already, and we’ll be sharing lots more as this home renovation comes together. Keep an eye on this one.

There’s a lot happening at our North Burnaby home renovation.

We’re taking this original post and beam home and giving our clients a lot more room to enjoy it, with a new home addition that includes a rec room, gym and workshop, plus a big deck to take advantage of those North Shore mountain views.

It’s a pretty special custom renovation for a lovely couple who wanted more from the home they already have, and we can’t wait to show you how it all comes together.

A little sneak peek at Project Haywood’s laundry room before we handed over the keys.

I don’t think anyone truly appreciates a well-designed laundry room until they’ve actually lived with one. Before that, it’s just “the room with the washing machine.”

Then suddenly you have enough counter space to fold clothes without balancing everything on the bed. Cabinets that keep detergents, cleaning supplies, and extra linens tucked neatly away. Everything has a place, and the whole routine feels less like a chore.
