This morning, we came together for another all staff breakfast – a chance to catch up with colleagues, share what we've been up to, focus on what’s ahead and celebrate the milestones!

This morning, we heard from participants in our Future Leader Development Program, who have spent the past nine months learning, growing and challenging themselves to think differently about how we work. They also shared ideas for improving our business – bringing fresh perspectives and bright ideas to the table.

We also took the opportunity to look ahead at our Strategy 2027–29 and the initiatives we’ve committed to for the next 3 years and beyond. It's important that our team understand, these aren’t just projects on a strategy document, they’re about changing and improving the way we work, strengthening our capabilities and continuing to build a better business for our people and our clients.

It was a great morning of learning, sharing and celebrating – and a reminder that our future is shaped by the people who are willing to step up, contribute ideas and help make things better.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed this morning. There’s lots to look forward to!

We’ve struck GOLD!

Alexander Symonds is proud to have received a GOLD BARS Audit Report, recognising three years of continuous registration and auditing.

The Flight Safety Foundation Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) program is a standard of assessment and risk management for businesses conducting aerial operations.

This is a great result for our team, and another example of the expertise, professionalism and value our drone and aerial mapping capability delivers across the business.

Some members of our team spent time this week volunteering with Backpacks 4 SA Kids, helping prepare backpacks and essential care packs for children and families experiencing crisis.

From sorting donations to packing everyday essentials, time spent with the Backpacks team is always a reminder that small actions can make a meaningful difference when people need support most.

We’re proud to continue supporting organisations like Backpacks 4 SA Kids INC. that work tirelessly to provide comfort, dignity, and immediate assistance to vulnerable children across our community.

A huge thank you as always to the team for having us and for the important work you do every day.

We’re proud to be supporting grassroots sport in our community through our sponsorship of the Metro Jets Netball Club.

Local clubs like Metro Jets play an important role in bringing people together, building confidence, and creating opportunities for players of all ages to grow and succeed. Supporting initiatives like this is one way we stay connected to the communities we work in every day.

Our team have been closely involved in supporting the recent development of an automated closure and joins verification system by Land Services SA. We’ve been sharing practical feedback from our surveyors and drafters, and participating in in-person sessions with the development team.

We’re happy to contribute to the ongoing innovations that shape our industry, and our involvement means we’re well placed to manage the transition. That’s a win-win!

Over the end of year break, 20 of our staff got together to play in the annual Alexander Symonds Golf Day, and the winners walked away with their names forever engraved on the inaugural Franco Rea Championship Cup.

The Golf Day was a regular part of the A&S calendar for a number of years and 2025 saw it’s triumphant return. With the talent evenly spread across the teams, the final scores were relatively close. Congratulations to winners, James Montgomery, Sam Seskis, Luke M. and John McFarlane. It was an exciting day with plenty of laughs.

As Alexander Symonds wraps up another big year, we want to extend a sincere thank you to our clients and partners, and to our team and their families, for your continued support throughout 2025.

It’s been a milestone year for our business, with involvement in a range of significant projects across South Australia and Western Victoria. Our teams have been delivering results to be proud of in land development, construction, infrastructure, energy, and resources, and all that alongside the relocation of our Adelaide office midway through the year.

We’ll be taking a well-earned break over the festive period, finishing at close of business on Friday 19 December and reopening on Monday 5 January 2026.

To close out the year, we’re sharing a few highlights from our Christmas party at the National W**e Centre, a great way to celebrate the year that was with our team.

We wish you a safe and relaxing break, and we look forward to working with you again in the new year.

As the year comes to a close, we’re proud to recognise two remarkable milestones at Alexander Symonds.

Our Managing Director, Glenn Hordacre, celebrates an incredible 40 years with our company. Glenn’s leadership, commitment and steady guidance have shaped our business over decades, leaving a lasting impact on our people, our clients and the industry.

We also acknowledge the retirement of our Drafting Manager, Rob Fletcher, who will step away at the end of the year after 24 years of dedicated service. Rob’s technical expertise, mentorship and attention to detail have played a key role in the success of countless projects and the development of many team members.

We were delighted to be able to celebrate these outstanding achievements at our recent end of year celebration. Thank you again, Glenn and Rob, for your loyalty, leadership and legacy.
