In celebration of Heritage Month 2026, ICOMOS South Africa is delighted to present two captivating lectures by some of its esteemed members who are actively engaged in international projects.
Andrew Hall, Guy Thomas and John Gribble will delve into their remarkable work in revitalising the Old Town of Al’Ula in Saudi Arabia. This ambitious multi-year project aims to breathe new life into an abandoned traditional town and its oasis, transforming it into a vibrant cultural hub.
Sven Ouzman will discuss his collaborative research on cultural landscapes that are grappling with the challenges posed by climate change, resource extraction, and the growing demand for habitable spaces. This presentation will explore two such landscapes: the !Garib/Orange River in southern Africa and the Martuwarra/Fitzroy River in northern Australia.
The webinar will conclude with an engaging Q&A session, providing an opportunity for the speakers to interact with the audience and address any questions or concerns they may have.
This event is open to all.
