COMMUNITY REMAINS AT THE HEART OF LEFIKA.
This cannot be emphasised enough.
There is a Tswana proverb that says: "Motho ke motho ka batho."
Simply put: we are, because you are.
Over the weekend, our Founder, Karabo Ditlhoiso, had the privilege of delivering the keynote address at the Kimberley Boys' High School Matric Dance for the Class of 2026.
The brief was a meaningful one: speak to a group of young gentlemen with a keen interest in business and, perhaps more importantly, a world of possibility ahead of them.
Drawing from his own journey, Karabo reflected on growing up in Mothibistad, Kuruman — a community where dreaming beyond your circumstances was not only encouraged, but expected. A culture of punching above your weight. Of taking on the Goliaths of the world, regardless of how formidable they may appear.
He spoke of the lessons his mother instilled in him from an early age.
Know your potential. Own it. And take responsibility for fulfilling it.
And then, perhaps the more important lesson:
Once you have imagined your wildest ambitions, do not simply work towards achieving them. Put in the work required to exceed them — and surprise even yourself with what you become capable of.
These are principles that resonate deeply with who we are at Lefika.
Because we believe business is not simply about transactions, buildings or balance sheets. It is about people, possibility and the legacy we leave behind.
Our commitment to community extends beyond what we do in real estate. It is about showing up, sharing what we have learnt, creating opportunities and reminding the next generation that where you come from does not have to determine where you are going.
We are because you are.
And when given the opportunity to speak life, ambition and purpose into the next generation, we will always show up.
At the end of his address, Mr Ditlhoiso shared the following words with the Class of 2026:
"To the Class of 2026
May the best of your todays be the worst of your tomorrows.
May the wind always be at your back,
and the sun forever shine upon your face.
May you have the courage to chase the things that scare you,
the wisdom to know which battles are worth fighting,
and the humility to remember those who helped you along the way.
May you never measure your success only by what you accumulate,
but by the lives you touch, the people you inspire,
and the difference you leave behind.
May you find purpose in your work, joy in your journey,
and people who celebrate your victories as loudly as they stand beside you in your storms.
May you have the courage to dream beyond what you have seen,
the faith to believe in what you cannot yet see,
and the resilience to keep going when the road gets difficult.
And when you look back one day, may you be proud not only of where you arrived,
but of the person you became along the way.
May you wake up every day, richer than you've ever been"
**** END ****
