TREND WATCH: WATER-WISE HOMES

As homeowners become more conscious of long-term costs and sustainability, water-wise features are making their mark on modern homes.

From rainwater tanks to water-saving fittings, homeowners are looking for practical ways to use water more efficiently while improving their home’s resilience.

Features to look out for:
• Rainwater harvesting tanks
• Water-saving taps and showerheads
• Efficient irrigation systems
• Indigenous, low-water gardens
• Smart water-management solution

It’s not just about saving water - it’s about creating homes that are more efficient, practical and prepared for the future.

Keep an eye on this trend as water-wise living becomes an increasingly important consideration for homeowners and buyers.

YOU CAN CHANGE THE HOUSE… NOT THE LOCATION

Paint colours, kitchens and bathrooms can be changed.
But the location of your property is permanent.

Consider proximity to schools, shops, transport, work and lifestyle amenities when buying.

Lesson: Look beyond the house and consider the location too.

HOW LONG DOES A PROPERTY TRANSFER TAKE?

Selling or buying a property? One of the most common questions is: “How long will the transfer take?”

In South Africa, a property transfer typically takes around 8–12 weeks, depending on factors such as how quickly the required documents are submitted and how long it takes to obtain the necessary municipal rates clearance.
Once the transfer is lodged at the Deeds Office, registration generally takes around 7–10 working days.

Remember: Every property transaction is different, and delays can occur if outstanding documents, certificates or clearances are required.

Understanding the process can make the journey to registration a whole lot smoother.

Buying or selling? Your Wakefields agent is here to guide you every step of the way.

A rate increase doesn’t always need a big reaction.
Sometimes, it’s the small, consistent extras that make the real difference.
