One of the biggest answers is how much of it remains protected.

Approximately two-thirds of St. John is preserved within Virgin Islands National Park, helping protect the landscapes, wildlife and natural beauty that make this island so distinctive.

That commitment to conservation shapes more than the scenery. It's part of the experience of visiting, living and owning property on St. John.

And sometimes, the best reminder is as simple as a few birds enjoying their own little spot along the coastline.

Some of the most memorable neighbors on St. John have four legs. 🦎

Living on St. John means sharing the island with plenty of wildlife, from tiny lizards on porch railings to donkeys along the roadside and birds passing through the garden.

It's a side of island living that doesn't always make it into the real estate listings, but it's part of the everyday experience of calling this place home.

And while the ocean views get plenty of attention, sometimes it's the little locals that steal the show.
