But if you’ve never spent a winter in Florida, you might be wondering… WHERE DO I EVEN START?
Here are 6 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BECOMING A SNOWBIRD!
🌴 1. PICK YOUR FLORIDA LOCATION WISELY!
Florida is a BIG state, and not every area offers the same lifestyle.
Do you want to be near beaches, shopping, restaurants, golf courses, attractions, or a little bit of everything?
Central Florida offers a great combination of activities, with plenty of opportunities for day trips and adventures!
🏡 2. DECIDE WHETHER TO RENT OR BUY!
Not sure if snowbird life is for you? Renting for a season can be a great way to test the waters!
Already know Florida is where you want to spend your winters? Buying might be worth considering.
And here’s something many people don’t realize: Some RV resorts offer individually deeded properties, meaning you actually OWN the land!
🚍 3. YOU DON’T NECESSARILY NEED A MOTORHOME!
When people hear “RV resort,” they often assume they need an RV.
But depending on the community, there may be park models, cottages, and other options that allow you to enjoy the lifestyle without traveling in an RV.

Before making a decision, compare the TOTAL cost.
Does the community charge lot rent or HOA fees? What do those fees include? Are there property taxes, utilities, insurance, or other expenses?
A lower purchase price doesn’t always mean a lower long-term cost!

This might be the MOST important tip!
You can find a beautiful place to stay, but what will you do once you’re there?
Look for activities, amenities, opportunities to meet people, and a community where you feel welcome.
After all, you’re not just choosing where to spend your winters. You’re choosing how to spend them!
