Who are we kidding? It's kind of hard 𝑵𝑶𝑻 to notice when the toilet is practically in the middle of the bathroom floor! 😂

During a recent 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, Jonathan discovered a toilet installed 𝑊𝐴𝑌 too far from the wall!

It may seem like an obvious mistake, but it's another reminder that new construction doesn't mean perfect construction!

🏗️ From Pre-Pour Foundation and Pre-Drywall Inspections to the Final Inspection, having an independent set of eyes on your new home can help identify concerns before move-in day.

🏡 Building a new home? Don't skip the inspections!

A quick monthly test can make a big difference when it comes to protecting your family.

Press the test button on each smoke and carbon monoxide detector to make sure the alarm sounds properly. Replace weak or dead batteries right away, and never ignore a chirping detector—it is trying to tell you something!

💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Add detector testing to your monthly home maintenance routine, and replace the batteries at least once a year or as recommended by the manufacturer.

A few minutes today can provide valuable warning when every second counts.

Today’s find comes from a 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗗𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 on a new construction home. 👀

Before the drywall goes up and everything gets covered, our inspectors take a closer look at the components that will soon be hidden from view.

In this case, Matt found damaged masonry blocks at a supporting area — exactly the kind of concern you want identified before construction moves forward.

A Pre-Drywall Inspection gives you an independent set of eyes on your home while important components are still visible and concerns can be addressed before they’re covered up.

Bryon was out in Minneola this morning for a 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗣𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 — and gave us a great little intro to one of CFBI’s newest services!

A Pre-Pour Foundation Inspection gives buyers an extra set of trained eyes before the concrete is poured, helping identify potential concerns while they’re still accessible.

Building a new home? Don’t wait until the final inspection to bring CFBI in. 👀

A leaking toilet isn't always obvious.

One of the most common plumbing issues in a home is a worn toilet flapper. Even if you don't hear running water, a faulty flapper can allow water to slowly leak from the tank into the bowl 24/7—wasting hundreds of gallons of water and increasing your utility bill.

Checking your toilet flappers can help:
💧 Prevent water waste
💰 Lower your water bill
🔧 Avoid unnecessary plumbing repairs
🏡 Protect your home's plumbing system

💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Add a few drops of food coloring to the toilet tank and wait 10–15 minutes without flushing. If color appears in the bowl, your flapper is leaking and should be replaced. It's an inexpensive repair that can save water and money.

A quick five-minute check today could stop a leak that's been costing you every month.

If you had to shut off the power in an emergency, would you know which breaker to flip?

A clearly labeled electrical panel can save valuable time when every second counts. Whether you're troubleshooting an electrical issue, replacing a light fixture, or responding to an emergency, accurate breaker labels make the job safer and much less stressful.

Benefits of labeling your electrical panel:
⚡ Improves safety
⏱️ Saves time during emergencies
🔧 Makes repairs and maintenance easier
🏡 Helps protect your home and family

💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Turn on lights or plug in a small lamp while flipping one breaker at a time to identify what each circuit controls. Write clear, specific labels like "Kitchen Counter Outlets" or "Master Bedroom" instead of generic names like "Room 1."

A few minutes spent labeling your panel today can make a big difference when you need it most.

The rain may be over, but your home could still be telling you something.

After a heavy rainstorm, take a few minutes to walk around your property and look for signs of trouble. Catching small issues early can help prevent expensive repairs and protect your home's structure.

Keep an eye out for:
💧 Standing water near your foundation
🍂 Clogged or overflowing gutters
🏠 Roof leaks or water stains
⬇️ Poor drainage around your home

💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Check your attic and ceilings after a heavy rain for damp spots or water stains. Outside, make sure downspouts are directing water several feet away from your home's foundation.

A quick walk around your home today could save you thousands tomorrow.

Your water heater works hard every day—but when was the last time you gave it a little maintenance?

Over time, sediment naturally settles at the bottom of the tank. If left unchecked, that buildup can make your water heater work harder, reduce efficiency, shorten its lifespan, and even lead to costly repairs.

Flushing your water heater helps:
💧 Remove sediment buildup
⚡ Improve energy efficiency
🛠️ Extend the life of your water heater
💰 Help prevent costly repairs

💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Before flushing your water heater, turn off the power (or set a gas unit to "Pilot"), attach a garden hose to the drain valve, and direct the hose to a safe drainage area. Flush the tank until the water runs clear, then restore power once the tank has completely refilled.

A little preventative maintenance today can help keep the hot water flowing for years to come!

Your GFCI outlets are one of the simplest—𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡—safety features in your home.

Found in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry rooms, and outdoor areas, GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlets are designed to quickly shut off power if they detect a ground fault, helping protect you and your family from electrical shock.

The good news? Testing them only takes a few seconds.

Simply press the "TEST" button to make sure the outlet trips, then press "RESET" to restore power. If it doesn't trip or won't reset, it may need to be replaced by a qualified electrician.

💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Test your GFCI outlets once a month to ensure they're working properly. It's a quick habit that can make a big difference in your home's electrical safety.

A few seconds of maintenance today can provide peace of mind all year long.
