Welcome back to Crocktober! After previous posts featuring a hearty chili and a cozy dump cake, this week’s non-meat feature is all about a comforting fall drink.

There’s nothing quite like coming home to the scent of cinnamon, cloves, and warm apple c***r simmering in the slow cooker! It fills the entire house with the sweet aroma of autumn and couldn't be easier to whip up.

🛒 Ingredients:
1 gallon apple c***r (unsweetened)

3 cinnamon sticks + extra for garnish

1 tsp whole cloves

1 tsp whole allspice berries

1/2 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)

1 orange, sliced

🥣 Quick Instructions:
Combine c***r and brown sugar in your slow cooker; stir until sugar begins to dissolve.

Add cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice (tip: pop small spices in a tea sachet!), and orange slices.

Cover and cook on LOW for 3–4 hours (or HIGH for 1.5–2 hours).

Turn to Keep Warm, ladle into mugs, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or orange slice! ☕🍁

Adult Twist: Add a splash of bourbon or spiced rum directly to individual mugs before serving! 🥂

Bring Out the Autumn Ambiance! Tips for Transforming Your Home This Fall
• Natural Fragrance: Instead of relying on artificial air fresheners, harness the scents of fall by simmering a pot of water on the stove with cinnamon sticks, cloves, orange peels, and apple slices. This will infuse your home with a warm and inviting aroma that evokes the essence of autumn.
• DIY Draft Stopper: Keep chilly drafts at bay by creating your own draft stopper for doors and windows. Simply fill a long tube of fabric (autumn-themed socks, anyone?) with dried rice or beans, then place it along the bottom of drafty doors or windows to block cold air from entering your home.
• Fireplace Efficiency: Improve the efficiency of your fireplace by placing a cast iron skillet filled with water on top of the wood stove or inside the fireplace. The water will evaporate and add moisture to the air, preventing dryness and helping to distribute heat evenly throughout your home. Add autumn-scented essential oils to add fragrance to the air.
• Frost Protection for Plants: Protect delicate plants from early frosts by covering them with lightweight fabric or old bed sheets. This will help to trap heat and prevent frost damage, allowing you to enjoy your garden for a little while longer before winter sets in.
• Homemade Bird Feeder: Attract feathered friends to your yard by making a homemade bird feeder using natural materials such as pine cones, peanut butter, and birdseed. Roll pine cones in peanut butter, then coat them in birdseed and hang them from trees or shrubs for a festive fall treat for birds.

The tradition of carving pumpkins traces back to an Irish legend: a trickster named Stingy Jack outwitted the devil so many times, he was condemned to wander the earth. Jack carried only a burning coal inside a carved-out rutabaga to light his way. People started calling him “Jack of the Lantern”—which eventually became Jack-o’-lantern.

Halloween Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treaters

Halloween is one of the most exciting nights of the year for kids—but between costumes, crowds, and candy, safety should always come first. Here are a few simple ways to keep your home and neighborhood safe for little ghosts and superheroes this season:

1. Light It Up – Make sure your porch, driveway, and walkways are well-lit to prevent trips and falls.
2. Clear the Path – Remove leaves, garden hoses, and decorations from walkways so kids don’t stumble.
3. Pet Precautions – Keep pets inside or securely leashed; even friendly pets can get spooked by costumes.
4. Candle-Free Décor – Use battery-operated candles in pumpkins and lanterns to reduce fire hazards.
5. Costume Safety – Choose reflective tape or glow sticks so kids are visible to drivers.
6. Mind the Traffic – Remind
7. Secure Handrails – Double-check railings on steps and porches for extra stability.
8. Driveway Awareness – If you’ll be out driving, go slow and be extra alert for little trick-or-treaters.

🏡 Stuck waiting for interest rates to drop? Here’s a strategy you might be missing! 💡

Did you know that about half of the homes on the market right now have been listed for more than 2 months? ⏰

While mortgage rates are out of anyone's control, the offer you make isn't. Sellers whose homes have been active for 60+ days are often much more open to negotiating—whether that’s accepting an offer below asking price or offering seller credits to help buy down your rate!

You don't have to wait on the sidelines. If you're ready to find a great home on terms that work for your budget, let's connect today! 📲👇
