Here’s Jeff putting the finishing touches on a coronet cut. The jagged top mimics the way a tree naturally breaks, leaving behind a wildlife spar that can provide habitat and nesting opportunities for birds and other wildlife. 🐦 🪺 …Jeff looks pretty happy up there doesn’t he?

Left unprotected, ash trees are extremely vulnerable to the Emerald Ash Borer, which arrived in Stowe in 2024. This summer we received a SAP-Ne grant to work with to innoculate select groups of white ash at two Stowe Land Trust owned properties: Dumont Meadow and Shutesville Ledges.

Protecting ash trees from this invasive insect, and helping esure that white ash trees have a fighting chance in the future is part of how your support allows us to care for the landscape. 🪲
