👻 Some of the scariest things about buying a home in Alaska have nothing to do with Halloween! 🎃🏡

A home can look absolutely beautiful in photos, have all the features on your wish list, and still come with a few surprises you weren't expecting.

And while I love seeing my buyers get excited about a property, I also want them to feel confident about what they're getting into.

Because falling in love with a house is the fun part. Understanding what comes with owning it? That's where asking the right questions really matters. 🤎

The good news? Not every red flag is a dealbreaker. Sometimes it's simply something worth investigating before making a big decision.

So before you fall under a home's spell, let's make sure you know what you're buying! 🔍✨

A warm house in Alaska isn't something I take for granted. ❄️🏡

And when you're buying a home here, knowing how it stays warm is just as important as loving how it looks.

One thing I always encourage buyers to do? Ask about the heating system BEFORE making a decision.

How old is it? When was it last serviced? What fuel does it use? And what have the heating costs looked like?

These aren't the most exciting questions during a showing, but they can make a big difference in your comfort and budget once you're living there.

Because that cozy feeling should last long after the showing is over. 🤎

🔥 Alaska homeowners, what's one thing you wish you'd known about your home's heating system before moving in?

🔥 That cozy fireplace might be selling you a feeling… but is it actually keeping you warm?

There's something about walking into an Alaska home with a beautiful fireplace that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and call it yours. 🏡❄️

And trust me, I get it!

But here's something I always encourage buyers to think about: What's actually keeping the house warm when Alaska temperatures really drop?

Not every fireplace is designed to heat an entire home. Some are decorative, some provide supplemental warmth, and others can be an important part of the heating setup.

That's why understanding the primary heating system, its condition, and how the home is heated matters just as much as those cozy first impressions.

Because in Alaska, a warm home isn't just a luxury. It's a necessity.

💬 Alaska homeowners, I'm curious! What's your primary heat source—natural gas, heating oil, electric, or wood?

🎢 Some things change… but apparently, my love for a good adrenaline rush isn't one of them! 😂❤️

Years ago, I hopped on the Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York in Las Vegas for the very first time. Let's just say my facial expressions told the WHOLE story! 🤣

Fast forward to my recent Vegas trip for my Zillow interview, and guess what I decided to do?

Ride it AGAIN! 🙌

Different trip. Different chapter of life. But the same excitement, screams, and unforgettable memories!

Looking back at these photos makes me laugh because no matter how much time passes, it's the little adventures that remind you to enjoy life and have some fun along the way. 🤎

And yes, I'd probably ride it a third time! 😉

💬 Your turn! Are you the first person in line for a roller coaster, or are you happily watching from the ground? 😂👇

Alaska really knows how to make you fall in love with a place all over again. 🍂❄️🏔️

There's this little window of time when you can experience two completely different seasons in the same afternoon. And no matter how many years you've lived here, the scenery still has a way of stopping you in your tracks.

From the winding roads near Anchorage to the breathtaking landscapes of the Mat-Su Valley, even an ordinary drive can turn into something pretty spectacular.

It's moments like these that remind me why I love living in Alaska—and why helping people call this place home means so much to me. 🤎

Now I have to ask my fellow Alaskans…

🌙 Imagine living somewhere the sun doesn't rise for TWO MONTHS. ❄️

Sounds like something out of a movie, right? But in Utqiaġvik, Alaska, it's a real part of winter!

Every year, this northern Alaska community experiences polar night, when the sun stays below the horizon for roughly 65 days.

But here's what surprises most people…

🌅 The sky isn't completely black 24/7. There can still be beautiful twilight.

✨ Snow reflects the little light available, creating an incredible winter landscape.

🌌 And on clear nights, the northern lights can make the darkness feel magical.

That's the thing about living in Alaska. Every season brings something you won't experience quite the same way anywhere else.

And while Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley don't experience polar night, our shorter winter days are definitely something to consider when buying a home in Alaska!

🏡 My Alaska homebuying tip: Pay attention to natural light, window placement, and which direction a home faces. Those little details can make a BIG difference during our long winters.

🏡 Some homes have those little details that make you stop and say… okay, I LOVE that! 😍

I see a lot of homes, and while beautiful finishes are always nice, it's the thoughtful features that really catch my attention.

The kind of details that make everyday life a little easier, more comfortable, or just a whole lot better. 🤎

And this recent Alaska home showing had TWO things that immediately stood out to me!

One made me want to slow down and enjoy the moment. The other? Let's just say I appreciate a home that knows how to make everyday living more practical. 😉

Because finding the right home isn't always about the biggest kitchen or the fanciest upgrades. Sometimes, it's about those unexpected features that just make sense for your lifestyle.

🎥 Watch to see my two favorites!

🏡 Not all Realtors are the same—and who you choose really does matter. 🤎

Buying or selling a home is a big decision, and you deserve more than someone who simply gets the paperwork done.

You deserve someone who listens, understands what matters to you, communicates openly, and isn't afraid to have the conversations that help you make better decisions.

That's the kind of Realtor I strive to be.

Because for me, real estate has never been just about the transaction. It's about the people, the relationships, and making sure you feel supported every step of the way.

And here in Alaska, having someone who understands the local market and the unique details of buying or selling a home can make all the difference. 🏔️

✨ Swipe through for a few things I believe everyone should look for when choosing a Realtor.

Let's talk about a room that rarely makes the top of anyone's home-buying wishlist… the laundry room! 🧺🏡

It might not be the most exciting part of a showing, but trust me, it's one of those spaces you'll appreciate when it actually works for your everyday routine.

Think about carrying baskets up and down stairs, finding space to fold clothes, or dealing with bulky winter layers after a long Alaska day. ❄️

When I'm showing homes, I love encouraging buyers to picture those everyday moments. Because sometimes, it's the smallest details that make the biggest difference once you've moved in.

✨ The right home should make everyday life easier—not harder.

What's one laundry room feature you couldn't live without? A folding counter, extra storage, or having it on the same floor as your bedrooms? Tell me below! 👇
