Yes, Uintah County offers early voting. Yes, we accept mail-in ballots. But neither gives county staff an early look at who is ahead.
Ballots can be processed and scanned into counting equipment before Election Day, but the vote totals remain locked within the system—even from election staff—until polls close at 8 p.m. on November 3.
Why? Processing ballots ahead of time helps election workers prepare timely, accurate results. Keeping those totals unavailable while voting continues helps protect a fair process, prevents partial results from influencing voters, and keeps everyone on the same footing.
Voting early doesn’t mean anyone gets an early peek.
Remember: Election-night results are preliminary. Results become official after the remaining eligible ballots are counted and the canvass is complete.
