Ozark’s water doesn’t stop at the city limits.

Along with homes and businesses in town, the City of Ozark supplies water to four neighboring water systems, so their customers depend on Ozark’s pipes too. Hawkins-Weir Partner Josh Durham, P.E., recently joined the city at a public meeting to walk residents through the plan to strengthen that system.

The first phase would:
→ Upgrade the main lines that carry water across town, for steadier, more reliable service
→ Reduce the ongoing repairs an aging system requires
→ Add a second storage tank at the water treatment plant, so the plant can keep its filters clean and the existing tank can be taken offline for maintenance without putting service at risk

Great week with the team at the Southwest Section AWWA YP Summit! We are so proud of our staff’s involvement this year. From Thanh Vu presenting in the poster competition to touring one of Fort Smith's wastewater treatment plants, it was a packed and productive first day. The energy continued into day two with incredible leadership training and an insightful panel discussion featuring HW’s President, Aaron Benzing. HW was a Platinum Sponsor for the Summit, and as a member of the SWAWWA YP Committee, Aryana Davin helped to organize this event.

GO THE EXTRA MILE CHALLENGE ACCOMPLISHED!

On Saturday 5/23, HW officially wrapped up our 16-week walking and running challenge, and the results are mind-blowing! Our 4 incredible teams managed to crush a combined total of over 2,560 miles! That is some serious dedication, sweat, and stamina. Way to go, everyone!

Congratulations to our top two teams:

1st Place: Team Courageous (Blake Peacock, Captain)
2nd Place: Team Awesome (Jared Alewine, Captain)

HW President Aaron Benzing, P.E., and Project Manager Meg Kelch, P.E., were honored to join the distinguished lineup of speakers at the 2026 Arkansas Water Conference. During the technical sessions, Aaron presented a critical update on the Northwest Arkansas Regional Wastewater Master Plan currently being developed for the Arkansas Natural Resources Division. Meg teamed up with Mulberry WTP Superintendent Darren Fields to provide a comprehensive overview of the recent Mulberry Water Treatment Plant upgrades.
