Hello!
We are considering using some of our property as a temporary private dog park for our friends that live locally on the I-70 corridor between Agate and Watkins.
Our goal is to petition the town of Bennett to open a public dog park. There are a multitude of parks in Bennett currently, more per capita than we feel is a standard. I know it may seem hard to accept such an idea that is typically a big city concept, but realistically our community is growing exponentially. There are certain aspects that grow with the rising population. One of which is our dogs’ needs for training, socialization, and exercise. That’s where our private dog park comes in.
Right now, we are limited on time, resources, funds, and adequate areas for big dogs, small dogs, and puppies to be safely separated in their own fenced in yards. So we have decided to announce different times for each category of dog.
That’s where you come in….what all do you think we need to do? Here are some of our ideas so far:
1. Address liability issues
2. Address safety issues
3. Determine “membership”
4. Schedule certain times for each category of dog
5. How to determine accessibility
6. Post Rules
7. Communication for our group
8. Obtain ground treatment protocols via qualified veterinarians and environmental experts
9. Get as many people as possible to sign a petition to get Bennett (or other towns) to open a dog park
10. What equipment is needed
11. Have fun with our dogs!!!
