Rising mortgage rates are a hot topic. Have they gone up? Yes. But you shouldn't be scared off from looking into buying a home. I'm seeing 30year FHA rates around 7.5%, which is a good bit lower from when rates jumped in 2023. Lenders may be able to get you locked in to an even lower rate, based on your credit and down payment. Three bedroom homes listed under $150k are available in Anderson and an estimated 30 year FHA payment including taxes, insurance and PMI is in the same ballpark as renting a 3 bedroom home. Absolutely! Unfortunately after a disaster, like our local flooding crisis, there will be cases of predatory, scamming contractors. Be careful and protect yourself and your home. If you have any questions or doubts about the legitimacy of a contractor, call the City of Anderson Building Commissioner's office. 765/648-6055

As our community recovers from recent flooding, please be cautious when hiring contractors for repairs. Take time to **stop, check, and verify** credentials, insurance, references, permits, and written contracts before agreeing to any work.
