My sister texted me to ask if I have a costume she can borrow to wear to work tomorrow. Without hesitation I texted back "I've got you, stop by after work." not because I knew I had the perfect costume for her but because I knew we could throw something together from all the random items I have. If you are like my sister and didn't plan ahead, here are some Last Minute Costume Ideas from items you already (most likely) have on hand!

People & Characters:
-Rosie the Riveter = Denim shirt + Red bandana + Flex your arm and say "We can do it"
-Miss Trunchbull from Matilda = Grey sweats + Weightlifting belt + Military boots + Hair in a tight top bun
-Wednesday Addams = Black dress + Long black socks or tights + Black shoes + Hair in pigtail braids
-Jake from State Farm = Red polo shirt + Khaki pants + Black belt + Name tag that says Jake and State Farm
-Ghost = Sheet + Scissors (to cut eye holes)
-Prom Queen = Formal Dress + Sash that says Queen + Crown
-Lumberjack = Flannel + Boots + Jeans + Toy axe (or make one out of cardboard and tin foil)
-Biker = Leather jacket + Whatever accessories you have laying around to complete the look

Punny:
-Sugar Daddy = Baby stroller or carrier + Bag of sugar wearing a diaper + Bonus points if you have a shirt that says "worlds greatest dad" or something on it
-Gold Digger = Gold dress + Toy shovel
-Formal Apology = A formal dress + Cardboard sign that says "I'm Sorry"
-Breadwinner = Trophy or metal or "winner" ribon + Bread
-News Flash = Newspapers covering your shirt + a trenchcoat over the top you "flash" at people
-Bad News = Newspapers covering your shirt + Write BAD across your chest
-Party Animal = Any animal look you have + Party hat
-Holy Cow = Cow print clothing item (or make it with a white shirt and black marker) + Halo
-French Kiss = Beret + W**e or Baguette + Kiss makeup (black and white) + Bonus if you talk in a French accent all night extra bonus if its a bad French accent
-Minibar = Mini Mouse ears + Ribbon necklace with mini bottles of alcohol
-Ceiling Fan = Jersay (or shirt) that says Ceiling + Pennant flag that says 'Go Ceiling'

Remember when scams were easy to spot?

“Dear Sir/Madam, I am a Nigerian Prince… I just need your help transferring $10 million…”

Ahhh… simpler times.

Unfortunately, scammers have leveled up. They’ve traded the obvious typos and Nigerian Princes for convincing emails, spoofed phone numbers, fake websites, AI-generated messages, and impersonating people and businesses we actually know and trust.

These days, a scam can look really legitimate.

So before you click, pay, wire, reply, or panic…

PAUSE AND VERIFY.

Because it’s a whole lot better to feel silly for double-checking than to find out the hard way that the “totally legitimate” message was anything but. Stay safe out there friends!
