Happy 4th of July to my daughter, Emma, and all of the men and women who have served to protect our freedoms! Emma will be a part of the 50th graduating class of women at the United States Air Force Academy when she graduates in 2030. Nathanael Green, George Washington’s confidant and fellow general, is a direct descendant of my family. From Nathanael Green to Emma, my family has had a service member serve in every major conflict in our country’s history. Thank you, Emma, for being strong and for your willingness to serve! I love you and miss you.

I’m spending this Memorial Day in NYC with my wife and children at the 9/11 Memorial Museum. My three children were not born when this event took place and I wanted to make sure they understood what happened. Many innocent people lost their lives in NYC that fateful day and many of the first responders that didn’t pass away have been suffering with illnesses ever since. I am truly grateful for the brave heroes that put their lives on the line everyday serving our local communities. I am grateful we have so many heroes in our country that have sacrificed themselves and paid the ultimate price for the safety of others and for the freedoms we all get to enjoy.
