If you're headed west on I-30 this weekend, you need to pay attention to this as you plan your trip.

HEADS UP, DALLAS: ALL I-30 LANES THROUGH DOWNTOWN CLOSE THIS WEEKEND

If your weekend plans involve crossing downtown, give yourself some extra time. Texas Dept. of Transportation is shutting down every eastbound and westbound lane of I-30 through downtown Dallas for I-30 Canyon Project work.

WHAT TO KNOW
🚧 When: 10pm Saturday, Oct. 24, to 5am Monday, Oct. 26 (weather permitting)
📍 Where: I-30 between the I-35E and I-45/US 75 interchanges
↪️ Detour: Follow the signs to SH 366 (Woodall Rodgers Freeway)
⏱️ Expect: Major delays, so skip the area if you can

WHY IT’S HAPPENING
The closure is part of the I-30 Canyon Project, an $888 million rebuild of the stretch between I-35E and I-45. When it’s done in 2031, that section of I-30 will grow from six main lanes to 12.

GOOD TO KNOW
Several streets that cross I-30 are also closed or narrowed for the long haul, including Botham Jean/Lamar Boulevard, Cesar Chavez Boulevard, Cadiz Street, and Akard Street. Check DriveTexas.org before you head out for the latest conditions.
