Whole Foods Market is coming to Hall Road, bringing its first location to Macomb County.
The store is planned for 13975 Hall Road, near Schoenherr Road, at the former Gander Mountain site in the Hall Road Crossing shopping center. The property had previously been expected to become an Amazon Fresh grocery store, but those plans changed as Amazon shifted its focus toward expanding Whole Foods.
For local shoppers, the announcement means another grocery option is on the way. For the surrounding retail corridor, it puts a recognizable national brand into a long-vacant commercial space.
And there's a bigger suburban real estate story here: what happens when a property that has sat empty for years finally gets a tenant? A new anchor business can bring more shoppers to a shopping center and potentially benefit neighboring retailers, too.
No official opening date has been announced yet, so Macomb County shoppers will have to wait for more details.
