🏡 WHY THE HOUSING MARKET FEELS STUCK RIGHT NOW
Homes are selling, but the market isn't moving freely. With mortgage rates above 7%, a cautious economy, and the holidays approaching, it's not hard to understand why.
-
But there's another problem. "Too many sellers are still thinking like it's 2020–2024." Those were different times. Buyers benefited from lower mortgage rates during much of that period, homes were moving quickly, and sellers often had the upper hand.
-
Today, buyers are focused on what they can actually afford. At current mortgage rates, even a reasonably priced home can stretch their budget. An overpriced one makes matters worse.
-
And here's the sobering reality for homeowners. âť—Your home is worth what today's market is willing to pay, not necessarily what your neighbor got two years ago. If you're serious about selling, price it competitively. It doesn't guarantee a sale, but it improves your chances of attracting buyers and moving forward. Holding on to yesterday's expectations can keep you stuck in today's market.
-
It gets even more interesting - 🤔 Let's say you price your home right and sell it. Where will you live next? And how will you afford another home when you're facing the same interest rates and financial challenges as the buyer purchasing yours ❓
-
"That's the other half of the problem keeping this market stuck." And it's exactly what I'll tackle in my next post.
