BREAKING: Van Zandt County deputy killed, Canton police officer injured in overnight shooting.

A tragic night for law enforcement in neighboring Van Zandt County.

Mom & Pops is gone.

The longtime gas station at Virginia and Cottage / Rochester was demolished this week, closing the book on one of Terrell’s most recognizable little corners.

For years, Fahed “Pops” Fatayri and his wife, Itidal, operated the store. Pops became a familiar face around Terrell, and in May 2023, the 82-year-old was tragically killed there during an armed robbery.

Even before that, the property had been identified by the City of Terrell for acquisition as part of its Town Square Project — a broader downtown improvement effort involving streets, parking, drainage, utilities and public space.

Now the building is gone.

But places like this are more than brick, concrete and gas pumps. They hold memories, people and stories.

If you remember Mom & Pops — or “ Big Money “ Pops himself — share a memory below.

A special honor for a man whose legacy is still part of Terrell today. 🍑❤️

State Representative Keith Bell presented the Ham family with a Memorial Resolution from the State of Texas honoring the life and legacy of Dale Ham.

For generations of families, Ham Orchards has been more than just a place to buy peaches. It’s part of what makes Terrell special.

Congratulations to the Ham family on this well-deserved recognition!

Today was a special day for our family. State Representative Keith Bell presented us with a Memorial Resolution from the State of Texas honoring the life and legacy of our dad, Dale Ham.

We are so grateful for this thoughtful recognition and for the opportunity to honor a man who meant so much to our family and to Ham Orchards. His legacy lives on in so many ways, and we are proud to carry it forward.

🍕 Another pizza option coming to Terrell?

Plans have surfaced for Milo’s Pizza & Grill at 419 E. Moore Avenue, the former home of Cole Mountain, Terrell Cole Mountain Restaurant.

According to a filing with the TDLR, the project includes a $150,000 renovation of the 2,760-square-foot building, with construction originally scheduled to be completed in November 2026.

We’ve reached out to the people behind the project for more information but haven’t received a response yet.

We’re still hoping to learn what kind of menu Milo’s will offer, whether it’s an entirely new restaurant concept, and when they expect to open.

We’ll share more as soon as we can confirm the details.

In the meantime, what would you like to see take shape at this familiar Terrell location?
