Tampa has sunshine, palm trees… and apparently a few ghosts too. 👻🌴

Here are 3 of Tampa’s most famously haunted places:

1️⃣ The Cuban Club — Ybor City
Built in 1917, the historic Cuban Club has a long reputation for unexplained activity. Visitors have reported screams, shadowy figures, footsteps, and even stories of poltergeist activity inside the building.

2️⃣ Tampa Theatre — Downtown Tampa
Opened in 1926, Tampa Theatre is said to have several resident spirits. One of the most famous is former projectionist Foster “Fink” Finley, whose presence is still reportedly felt around the projection booth.

3️⃣ Plant Hall — University of Tampa
Once the 511-room Tampa Bay Hotel, Plant Hall has plenty of ghost stories of its own. The creepiest may be “The Brown Man,” a mysterious figure described as wearing a brown suit with long white hair and glowing red eyes.

Tampa definitely has a darker side after the sun goes down. 😳

Which one would you be brave enough to visit at night?

A major and highly debated South Tampa infrastructure project is moving forward.

On September 17, 2026, Tampa City Council approved the roughly $100 million South Howard Flood Relief Project in a 4–3 vote.

The project is intended to address long-standing flooding issues around South Howard Avenue, Parkland Estates, and Palma Ceia Pines by replacing aging drainage infrastructure and installing a major new stormwater system.

The plan includes approximately 6,000 feet of new drainage infrastructure, including a 10’ x 10’ culvert beneath South Howard Avenue, with stormwater redirected toward Hillsborough Bay.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2027 and take roughly three years, with phased road closures anticipated between Swann Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard.

The proposal has generated significant debate.

Supporters point to repeated flooding, property damage, and the need to modernize aging infrastructure.

Opponents, including members of the SoHo business community, have raised concerns about prolonged construction, road closures, customer access, and the potential economic impact on local businesses.

With the measure now approved, the focus will turn to how the project is implemented and how the city manages construction impacts throughout the South Howard corridor.

This is a major development for South Tampa, and one that will likely continue to generate discussion as construction gets closer.
