If I was moving to Middlesex County in 2027 and I wanted to stay about 25 minutes from the bridge, these are the three towns I’d look at first. Close enough that Staten Island still feels like a quick drive. Far enough that your day actually changes.
Save this for when you start touring. Send it to the person who keeps saying “but Jersey is so far.”
Woodbridge
The closest landing spot from the Island. You’re barely over the bridge, with Metropark and Woodbridge Station for the city and the Parkway, Turnpike, and Route 9 all right there. Colonia, Iselin, Fords, Avenel, and Woodbridge Proper each have their own feel and price point, so there’s usually a pocket that fits your budget.
Honest catch? It’s busy. Highways and traffic are part of the package, and the section you pick changes everything.
Old Bridge
More space for your money, still an easy run back to Staten Island. Cheesequake State Park for hiking and kayaking, the Raritan Bay waterfront for a sunset walk, and Route 9 for every errand. It’s where a lot of my clients go when they want a real yard without stretching the budget.
Honest catch? It’s a big town. Where you land inside it decides your commute, so we pick the area before we pick the house.
Piscataway
The one most Staten Island buyers don’t think about, and that’s exactly why it deserves a look. Route 287 and Route 18 make getting around easy, Rutgers keeps the area busy and growing, and New Brunswick’s restaurants and events are minutes away. Strong mix of homes across different price points.
Honest catch? No real downtown of its own, and Rutgers game days can make the roads a headache.
Point is, same county, same 25-minute radius, three different ways to live.
Which one would you tour first? Drop it below.
Comment or DM RELOCATE and let’s map out which Middlesex town fits your family before 2027.
