Houston! Your October 2026 real estate market update is here!

Wondering what’s happening with Houston home prices, inventory, and homes for sale? Here’s a quick look at the latest Houston-area real estate market numbers for October:

New Listings: 14,301 homes were added to the MLS in October, down to -7.8% from October 2025.
Active Listings: 41,527 properties were available for sale, a 7.3% increase compared to October 2025.
Average List Price: $435,983 down from October 2025.

While fewer new listings came onto the market in October compared to last year, overall inventory remains higher, giving buyers more options to choose from. With more homes available and average list prices trending lower, sellers need to be mindful of pricing and presentation to stand out in a more competitive market.
