Los Angeles Could See More High-Rises

What can Chicago tell us about real estate in Southern California?
When we look at real estate markets like Chicago, it’s striking to see how affordability is shaped by factors such as available land and stable population growth—quite a contrast to what we experience here in Southern California. In my work representing buyers and sellers across Brentwood, Malibu, Beverly Hills, and beyond, I see firsthand how our market’s high prices are driven by constant demand and limited supply. Both Chicago and Southern California face the same universal challenges: finding the right balance between growth, affordability, and sustainable housing. Each home here tells its own story, but the broader narrative is clear—navigating these complexities requires deep market understanding and a genuine passion for the art of real estate.

Housing Density Bill Could Bring More High-Rises to 7 California Cities
California is on the move again—this time with a bill that could reshape the skylines of seven major cities with transit stops and populations over 400,000. The proposal? Allowing new residential buildings to soar from 150 feet up to 450 feet high, all in support of adding 2.5 million new homes by 2030. For those of us who live and work in the heart of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and the coastal pockets of Malibu and Pacific Palisades, this brings both opportunity and transformation. I've always believed that every home—whether it's a beach retreat or a high-rise with sweeping city views—has its own unique story. If this bill passes, we could be seeing even more dramatic chapters added to our neighborhoods. The luxury market thrives on evolution and vision, and these changes may open doors for buyers and sellers who appreciate architecture as art. As always, I’ll be keeping a close watch on how these developments unfold and what they might mean for clients looking for their next remarkable home.

Could Los Angeles Housing Ease in 2027?
The Los Angeles real estate landscape is always evolving, and as someone who’s spent years helping clients navigate high-end properties across Brentwood, Malibu, Beverly Hills, and beyond, I’m often asked—could we see some relief for buyers by 2027? Right now, high home prices and limited affordability continue to define our market. However, with price growth beginning to slow, there’s a bit more breathing room for those hoping to make LA their home.

Demand remains strong, largely because our supply is still so limited. Of course, elevated borrowing costs mean many households are sitting on the sidelines, waiting for their chance. If mortgage rates start to ease as projected, we could see a wave of buyers reentering the market. That would likely drive more transactions and help bring some much-needed balance.

A healthier market in 2027 won’t be about another surge in prices, but rather a shift toward greater affordability, rising incomes, and more accessible financing. Every home tells a story, and I’m committed to helping my clients write the next chapter—whether it’s a Malibu estate or a Craftsman in Pasadena. Let’s see what the next few years hold for Los Angeles real estate.
