Welcome to Seattle’s secret history portal: The Publix 🔑
Originally built for migrant workers coming from all over the world, The Publix Hotel was a “single room occupancy” design with each room containing a bed, sink and four coat hooks. Built in 1927, and since revitalized for today’s city dweller, The Publix is one of six remaining early buildings in the Chinatown International District constructed for the Rainier Heat and Power Co. It was the last of the Chappell Trust’s major investments in the district prior to the onset of the Great Depression. With the addition of a second tower of modern apartments, The Publix now brings a new style to the Chinatown International District, a historic district rich with Asian culture and food.
125 apartments in Seattle’s most exciting neighborhood set the stage for a connected lifestyle surrounded by the very best Seattle has to offer. The Stadium District, Pioneer Square, Downtown, King Street Station, and are all steps from your door. Easy access to major transit lines and major highways puts you anywhere in Seattle in minutes.
The historic lobby welcomes you home with high ceilings, beautiful wood and marble detailing and an open staircase. Classic, minimal interiors in the Fifth Ave S building let the architecture speak for itself.
