When I first moved to Seattle, I remember driving around with friends in the fall and constantly interrupting conversations to say, โWAIT, LOOK AT THE LEAVES!โ ๐
All these years later, I'm still yelling that, but usually to myself!
This October has been especially beautiful. The sunshine, the reds and oranges and yellows everywhere, the way the light comes through the trees... a few times I've turned down a street that looked like a jewel box and instantly snapped into the present. For that singular moment, I'm not thinking about what I need to do next. I'm just looking and thinking, โmy God, this is SO beautiful!โ
It's a reminder of how much I need those moments.
I've always appreciated beauty. Color, nature, music, dancing, flowers, a gorgeous sky... they have a way of getting me out of my head and bringing me back into the moment I'm actually living in.
It's my reminder that I don't always have to wait for those moments to find me. I can step outside and feel the last of the warm sun on my face, take advantage of a Free Museum Thursday and go experience some art, find a crafting circle where I can paint or color with other people... and, of course, there's always dancing. ๐๐ฝ
Maybe that's something I can give myself more often: something beautiful to pay attention to. ๐ โค๏ธ
