We are extremely grateful that the worst Isaias brought us was a heavy dose of clean up.
Utilities like power, cell service, water and sewer have been requested to be restricted or are not available. It will take weeks to clean up but what a blessing that clean up is all we need to do.
Staying Safe After the Storm ⛈️
1. Stay away from downed power lines. Always assume they are live, even if the power is out.
2. Document property damage. Take photos and videos before beginning cleanup for insurance purposes, when safe.
3. Watch for hidden hazards. Floodwater, debris, broken glass, and unstable structures can pose serious risks.
4. Avoid standing water. Never walk or drive through floodwaters.
5. Inspect your home carefully. Look for roof damage, water intrusion, and structural concerns. Have professionals assess anything unsafe.
6. Be cautious with electricity. Never operate electrical equipment that is wet or near standing water.
7. Use generators safely. Keep generators outdoors, at least 20 feet from windows, doors, and vents.
8. Check on your neighbors. Especially elderly residents, families with young children, and anyone who may need assistance.
9. Follow local emergency updates. Stay informed about road closures, boil-water notices, and restoration efforts.
10. Don’t rush the cleanup. Your safety is more important than restoring your property immediately.
