Tropical Update: Hurricane Milton (Wed Oct 9, 2024 - 10am)

Good morning,

Your Pinnacle Management Team is actively monitoring and is sheltered in place as Hurricane Milton approaches our area. It is possible this will be our last update until after the storm and a function of damage, power and internet connectivity. I urge you and your families to be sheltered and ready to weather this storm no later than Noon on Wednesday October 9th.

As of the 8am update from the National Hurricane Center on Wednesday October 9th, Hurricane Milton is a Cat 4 storm. We have been under a Hurricane WARNING for the last 36 hours and that includes Flood Warnings due to excessive rain, Storm Surge Warnings for our coastal areas and now, a Tornado Watch until Thursday morning. Some models expect the storm to reduce intensity a bit as it approaches, but do not plan for it. The area of landfall shows the greater Tampa Bay area, which includes Sarasota and Manatee Counties and is expected to occur in the early morning hours of Thursday October 10th.

The Pinnacle Corporate Office will continue to be closed Wednesday 10/9 and Thursday 10/10 as well, given the predicted impacts to our area and timing of the storm.

Updated graphics on the storm's movement and effects from the National Hurricane Center and other outlets are attached/below. We have already received over an inch of rain so far this morning and expect Tropical Storm force winds to remain steady early this afternoon.

Below are several resources you may find useful in both monitoring the storm:

Tropical Update: Hurricane Milton, Tue Oct 8, 2024 - NOON

Good afternoon,

Your Pinnacle Management Team is actively monitoring updates and preparing for impacts from Hurricane Milton. As of the 11am update from the National Hurricane Center on Tuesday October 8th, Hurricane Milton is a Cat 4-5 storm. We are now under a Hurricane WARNING. Some models expect the storm to reduce intensity a bit as it approaches. The area of landfall still has variability, but consensus shows landfall in the greater Tampa Bay area, which includes Sarasota and Manatee Counties.

The Pinnacle Corporate Office will be closed Tuesday 10/8, Wednesday 10/9 and now Thursday 10/10 as well, given the predicted impacts to our area and timing of the storm. Our team working remotely as able in advance of the storm. In addition to helping prepare our communities, our team's safety is of primary importance, as they need to shelter in place or evacuate.

Updated graphics on the storm's movement and effects from the National Hurricane Center and other outlets are attached/below. We expect the onset of stormy conditions in our area as Tuesday evening October 8th, with significant rain, flooding. We expect tropical storm force winds to arrive early on Wednesday. Conditions will deteriorate quickly on Wednesday October 9th and will continue into Thursday October 10th. An overnight predicted landfall makes Milton potentially more dangerous. Landfall will include significant storm surge in coastal locations along with very strong hurricane force winds throughout the area.

We ask that residents conclude preparations for storm conditions (including evacuation if warranted) TODAY. Everyone should stay tuned to local authorities, television updates and internet resources to monitor Milton as it continues to move toward our area.

Please note, as of Tuesday morning, both Sarasota and Manatee Counties have called for evacuations in Zones A, B & C, along with ALL mobile and boat homes.

Tropical Update: Hurricane Milton (Mon Oct 7, 2024 - Noon)

Good afternoon,

As of the 11am update from the National Hurricane Center, this storm has undergone further intensification and will continue to do so as it moves east through the Gulf of Mexico. At this time, our area is under a Hurricane Watch. Within 24 hours, this will become a Hurricane WARNING. It is still too soon to specify the exact magnitude AND location of the greatest impacts.

As a result of this, the Pinnacle Corporate Office will close at 4pm today and will be closed Tuesday 10/8, Wednesday 10/9 and possibly, Thursday 10/10, depending on the storm's impacts. The severity of Hurricane Milton and its impacts on our area requires us to be closed on Tuesday and our team working remotely as needed. In addition to helping prepare our communities, our team's safety is of primary importance, as they need to shelter in place or evacuate as needed based on their Evacuation Zone.

Hurricane Milton's approach has remained steady since the last update. Updated graphics on the storm's movement and effects from the National Hurricane Center and other outlets are attached/below. We expect the onset of stormy conditions in our area as Tuesday evening October 8th, with significant rain, flooding and tropical storm conditions. Conditions will deteriorate quickly on Wednesday October 9th and will continue into the early hours of Thursday October 10th.

We ask that residents wrap up preparations for storm conditions if they have not already in the next 12-24 hours as well as make decisions on evacuation now. Everyone should stay tuned to local authorities, television updates and internet resources to monitor Milton as it continues to move toward our area.

We also strongly encourage you to work within your communities to consider timing for the deployment of storm shutters, if applicable. At the same time, please walk your area and ensure you have a plan to secure loose debris or personnel effects on lanais, patios, yards or carports. These preparations should be concluded in the next 12-18 hours.

Good morning,

Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte Counties are currently under a Tropical Storm Warning (and still under a Hurricane Watch). Additionally, our area is also under a Tornado Watch until 8pm Thursday evening 9/26. Hurricane Helene continues to intensify. The predicted storm track has remained on track from its last update.

As of the 11am update from the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Helene his now in the Gulf of Mexico and moving northward as shown on the graphics. The wind field has expanded as the storm has strengthened and may continue to do so. This means while the forecast cone of uncertainty is west of our area for the center of the storm, the wind field IS very large with impacts on our area, to include tropical storm force winds, heavy rain bands with the possibility of tornadoes and storm surge. You can see the predicted wind field (at present) at the bottom of the storm path graphic in orange.

Graphics with updates on each are attached and below. We expect Tropical Storm conditions imminently and some areas area already seeing wind gusts in this range.

We ask that you ensure you are sheltered and stay tuned to local authorities, television updates and internet resources to monitor Helene as it develops and moves through our area.

Tropical Update: Tropical Storm Helene (Tue Sep 24, 2024, 3pm)

Good afternoon,

Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte Counties are currently under either Hurricane Watch or Tropical Storm watch depending on coastal versus inland locations, largely because of the expected intensification of Tropical Storm Helene.

As of the 2pm update from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Helene has formed across the western Caribbean. Helene is expected to undergo rapid strengthening as it accelerates northwards into the Gulf of Mexico. The wind field will expand as the storm strengthens. The size of the wind field will be in the 90th percentile of historic storms, The National Hurricane Center noted. This means while the forecast cone of uncertainty is CURRENTLY to the west of our area, the wind field will be very large with impacts on our area, to include tropical storm force winds, heavy rain bands and storm surge.

Graphics with updates on each are attached and below. We expect the onset of Tropical Storm conditions in our area as early as sunrise on Thursday morning September 26th.
