If you ask me, fall is one of the most underrated times of year for weather in Salida!
Most days are warm and sunny, with temperatures usually in the 60s and 70s, and sometimes even the 80s in early fall. Evenings get a little cooler than in summer, so you get that perfect mix of warm, sunny afternoons and crisp nights. It’s ideal sweater-and-campfire weather.
Fall also marks the end of monsoon season. In July and August we often get afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms, which can get in the way of hiking, biking, or time on the river. By fall, those storms usually settle down, so it’s a great time to enjoy the outdoors without watching the sky all afternoon.
Yes, it gets darker earlier as the season goes on. But with weather this nice, fall in Chaffee County is hard to beat!
