π California Housing Update: $1.7B Locked-In for Housing
Californiaβs balanced 2026β27 budget includes nearly $1.7 billion for housing and homelessness programs, with major funding directed toward housing stability, affordable housing, and renter support.
The budget includes funding for Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention grants, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, the Multifamily Housing Program, and housing stability efforts designed to help renters remain housed.
It also sets the stage for the November 2026 Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act, which could authorize $11.25 billion for affordable housing construction, rental assistance, homeownership programs, and veteransβ home loans if approved by voters.
Housing policy continues to evolve, and these changes can impact buyers, sellers, renters, investors, and property owners alike.
