A little design inspiration from NYC.

A recent visit to the Kips Bay Decorator Show House reminded me why I love what I do. Rooms that take risks, unexpected color combinations, beautiful details, and layers upon layers of personality.

There was so much to take in, but what I loved most was seeing designers push the boundaries and create spaces that feel collected, thoughtful, and anything but ordinary.

Sharing a few of the moments that caught my eye — from the bold choices to the little details that made me stop and look twice.

I'm already thinking about how some of these ideas might find their way into future projects.

Swipe through for a little design inspiration. Which detail is your favorite?

The variation depth, veining movement and imperfections are exactly what makes natural stone so beautiful. Yes it’s porous. Yes, it can etch. Yes, it can develop patina. That’s part of living with a natural material, and in our opinion it’s worth it!

When our client hired us to help furnish her new home, she had a few extra spaces that didn’t have an obvious purpose. Instead of filling them just to fill them, we thought about how she actually wanted to live in her home.

We decided a small room off her bedroom should become a Diva Den.

We enveloped the room in one of our favorite wallpapers, layered in comfortable furnishings, and created a space that exists simply to enjoy. We are still working on accessories and art but love the way it is shaping up.

A place to read a book, have a coffee, meditate, dream, relax… or just close the door and have a moment to yourself.

Because sometimes the best purpose for a room is simply to make you happy.

From a pile of pretty things… to a bathroom. Before demo is scheduled, there is this. A plan where every material is selected and every detail thought through. This is the luxury of hiring Beck Haus. We can't wait to show you more of this primary bath remodel project we presented last week.

What you see: a room that’s already furnished.

What your designer sees: what stays, what goes, what’s missing—and what could make the whole space feel completely different.

This room didn’t need a total overhaul. We kept pieces that were already working, swapped out a few that weren’t, added new window treatments, and layered in the details that made everything feel more intentional.

Because good design isn’t always about starting from scratch. Sometimes it’s knowing exactly what to change—and what not to.

A few thoughtful decisions can take a room from fine to finished.

We love a neutral. We really do.

But we also love leaning into what a space already wants to be.

Take this basement man cave. Most people would think a space without a ton of natural light needs a light paint color to brighten it up.

We say the opposite.

Lean into the darkness. Make it a moment. Let it be cozy, moody and a little dramatic. This room can handle it—and honestly, we think it’s better because of it.

Not every room needs to feel light and bright. Sometimes the best design decision is to embrace what you’re working with instead of fighting it.

What do you think—would you go dark in a basement?

Basically, if it gives the room a little more soul, I’m probably going to say yes.

What would you add to the list?
