Mortgage rates moved higher this week. What does that mean for Reno homebuyers?
According to Freddie Mac, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate increased to 6.95%, compared with 6.26% one year ago.
On a $600,000 home with 20% down, that difference translates to roughly $219 more per month in principal and interest, or about $2,625 per year.
It’s a good reminder that when looking at the Reno housing market, the price of the home is only part of the affordability equation. Interest rates can make a significant difference in the monthly payment.
