The vacation rental industry is having a full-blown crash out, and hotels are getting some FREE marketing out of it.
“I'll just stay in a hotel!” Okay! We love hotels, too!
Sometimes you want room service, fresh towels every day, and a lobby bar. Hotels are GREAT at what they do.
And sometimes you want a front porch, a kitchen full of people making breakfast, a backyard for the kids, and enough room for everyone to be together.
And here's something I wish more people understood about vacation rentals...
They're not all owned by giant corporations or investors who have never stepped foot in the communities they're operating in.
Many are owned by local families. People who love their towns, take pride in their homes, and genuinely want to share a little piece of their community with the people who visit.
Behind those homes are local cleaners, maintenance crews, small property management companies, and people whose livelihoods depend on welcoming visitors.
And when you stay in one, you're not just visiting a destination. You're getting to experience a neighborhood, discover the little coffee shop down the street, and see a place through the eyes of the people who actually call it home.
Hotels and vacation rentals aren't enemies. They're two different ways to experience a place. And both should have the exact same goal:
Make people feel welcome. Give them a great experience. Make them want to come back.
That's hospitality. That's what we're here for. And we're not about to let a checkout chore list be the hill hospitality dies on. 💛
