DPOR is always encouraging folks to check their site to see if your contractor has a license, or if it’s been revoked. As a home inspector, I find reasons every day that scream, “USE A LICENSED CONTRACTOR”! There are so many things wrong with this install. I didn’t expect this one. What appears to be a normal crawlspace with a plastic v***r barrier turned out to be more like an 80’s waterbed with no less than 4 inches of water under that plastic!! This is very unhealthy for any home! Most people don’t know, but at least 50% of the air you breathe in your living space comes from under the home. Your home circulates this air constantly so it’s always important to have a healthy crawlspace or basement. Call Advantage Inspections LLC for all your inspection needs. I’ve had an uptick in air sampling for mold lately. Some home owners, and some renters. All with similar concerns of mold in their home from either new or previous moisture. Homeowners, please be careful when hiring people to work on your home. Only hire licensed and insured contractors. Today’s home had every single pre manufactured truss cut and scabbed together with pieces of scrap wood and nails. Some were loose and some not even connected. Every single truss moved when I was crawling across them. Pre manufactured trusses should never be altered and require a structural engineer to design a proper fix to ensure the roof can support the weight of snow and ice.

Always pay attention to what you are storing in your crawlspace. This one was well ventilated and had a great v***r barrier, yet still produced enough moisture for a healthy mold growth. Try to avoid storing materials that absorb and hold moisture as that creates the perfect environment for mold to grow on. Paper, cardboard, trash, cloth and in this case, mouse poison, thin untreated wood, and paper towels.

Always make sure you use licensed and experienced contractors!
I’d like to play cards with this “electrician”!!
Two double tapped 3awg wires DO NOT beat a single 2awg wire for installing a 200 amp electric panel.
Also…This is a sub panel which has to be wired differently. They remembered to isolate the neutral bar, but forgot to bond the ground bar to the panel enclosure. Definitely not the work of a professional.

This crawlspace was turned into a septic tank by a broken drain pipe. As a homeowner, it’s very important to inspect your own home regularly. Get to know all the areas and peek in just to make sure things are working as they should. This homeowner had no idea this room existed, much less the disaster that existed within it.
