Even with price growth slowing, Maryland homes can still feel out of reach for many buyers. 🏠
The market has stabilized across much of the state, yet many households find that affordability remains a challenge. That feeling comes not just from the sticker price, but also from factors like higher mortgage costs, property taxes, and maintenance expenses, all stacking up at once.
What makes homes in Chesapeake Beach and Southern Maryland seem pricey? It often comes down to limited supply, local land-use restrictions, and the rising cost of building new houses. These pressures help keep asking prices elevated, even as fewer buyers compete, inventory grows, and sellers become more flexible on terms.
For buyers, today’s environment actually opens more room to compare options and negotiate, especially if a property’s condition or pricing feels out of step with the rest of the market. As someone who’s watched these shifts for years, I always recommend a close look at the full cost of ownership before making a move. 🔍
