Think buying your first home in Portland is out of reach? It might be closer than you think 🏡
Here’s what’s actually working for first-time buyers right now:
1️⃣ Look next door to your dream neighborhood. The block just outside the “it” area often has the same coffee shops and parks for a lot less.
2️⃣ Buy the smallest house in the neighborhood you love. The goal is to get in. You can grow from there.
3️⃣ Shop under the top of your budget. Leaving yourself some room means you can negotiate instead of stretching to win.
4️⃣ Buy when others won’t. Higher rates and the slower fall and winter season mean less competition and more motivated sellers. And if rates drop later, you can look into refinancing.
5️⃣ Ask about seller credits and down payment assistance. So many buyers don’t realize how much help is out there.
Whether you’re moving to Portland, OR or you’ve been renting in SE Portland for years and you’re ready to own, you don’t have to figure this out alone.
Rachel and I are hosting the Portland First-Time Homebuyer Brunch on November 7th with a local lender. Grab a mimosa, ask all your questions, and walk away with a real plan. Spots are limited and the address goes out when you sign up.
