Spring gets all the hype, but fall might get you a better house.
I tell buyers there are 3 big reasons I love helping them find their dream home in the fall:
1. Less competition. Fewer buyers fighting over the same house? Yes, please. You may be able to snag your dream home without getting caught up in a bidding war, paying over asking, or offering concessions just to win.
2. More motivated sellers. When buyer activity slows, some sellers find themselves chasing the market. And if a home has been sitting vacant, the thought of paying multiple mortgages for another month might make an offer with the right terms look pretty appealing. 👀
3. Portland’s rainy season is your friend. There’s no better time to see how a home handles our famously wet weather. Basement water intrusion? Drainage issues? Those rainy days can reveal problems that a sunny spring (or summer!) showing might not.
BTW this video was filmed in Sellwood, in SE Portland. Sellwood is one of those Portland neighborhoods everyone loves. It has that perfect Portland vibe: trees, old houses, cozy shops, and loads of history.
