The right steps must be followed during the water mitigation dry-out to try and prevent the opportunity for mold to grow on the affected wet, porous materials.

Step one is contacting a restoration company as soon as you know about the leak / water damage. It only takes 48-72 hours for mold to start to grow in the right environment. The clock is ticking! ⏰️

The baseboards should be removed. Holes should be drilled in the drywall to allow airflow into the wall cavity. Equipment should be in place to create the proper drying environment...

However, that does not guarantee mold will not grow. If you look closely at the lower portion of the drywall, you can definitely see some fungal growth. 👀🦠
