Most people in Arizona 🌵 don’t understand flood irrigation; I made it my whole personality 💁♀️
Questions people have asked when I’ve tried to explain flood irrigation to them:
Do you fill your yard with a hose? (No that would take forever and cost thousands of dollars.)
Do water trucks deliver it? (Also no, and also very cost prohibitive.)
Do people dump buckets of water in their yards? (Again no but I like the creativity ❤️)
Flood irrigation is delivered into less than 1% of residential yards in the Phoenix metro area (including surrounding cities like Scottsdale, Glendale, Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, and more). While some of these areas use groundwater, the vast majority of them use rainwater and snow melt from northern Arizona, fed through the Salt and Verde Rivers, and are part of Arizona’s watershed management system.
There are a lot of misconceptions about this system, and I’m here to debunk every one of them 💪
The best use of this water is to grow food in your own backyard, so if building an urban food forest or homestead has been on your heart this year, you probably need a REALTOR® who has 1) done exactly that after living with flood irrigation in Arizona for 30+ years, and 2) dedicated hundreds of hours to learning everything there is to know about flood irrigated real estate 🤗
