No, there isn't one universal “three-tradeline rule” for every mortgage.
A tradeline is simply an account on your credit report—a credit card, car loan or similar reported debt. Some lenders and loan programs want established credit history. Others have options for borrowers with limited or nontraditional credit.
The confusion sometimes starts when somebody hears “three-bureau credit report” and thinks that means they must open three new credit cards. It does not.
Please don't go applying for accounts two weeks before trying to buy a house because somebody on social media told you to.
A solid mortgage broker can review the whole file and tell you what's actually needed for the program you're pursuing.
Call or text me and let's get you connected with a mortgage broker who can review your situation.
