Phillips Area Fishing Report – October 15, 2026
John Carlson | Ross's Sport Shop & Guide Service

Hey anglers! Fall fishing continues to be good in the Phillips area, but we're still waiting for those water temperatures to drop!

🌡️ Water Temps: Still holding in the upper 50s to low 60s, with some lakes around 60–61 degrees. Cooler weather, rain, and north winds could finally get things moving toward turnover.

🐟 Panfish: Crappies are starting to move into deeper basins and their late-fall feeding areas. Bluegills are holding around cribs, fallen trees, and deeper wood in 12–15 feet of water. Panfish action has been good!

🎣 Walleyes: Still a tough bite, with mostly smaller fish showing up. There's an incredible amount of baitfish in the lakes right now, and the walleyes we're catching are stuffed! Snap jigging for reaction bites has been outperforming slow minnow presentations. Look for the bite to improve as water temperatures drop.

🐟 Muskies: We've been putting some nice fish in the Ross's guide boat! It's often a one-bite-a-day game, so make it count. Dive-and-rise baits, bucktails, and spinnerbaits are all producing. We're also finally connecting with fish on suckers, and we're hearing some topwater reports.

Wild river caught Musky suckers in the tanks at Ross's! With delivery almost daily we have plenty in stock, so stop in and get yours!

🇺🇸 Thank You, Veterans!

Last week was the Wisconsin Veterans Fishing Camp. Unfortunately, I had to miss it for the first time due to work commitments, but I was able to get a veteran out fishing during the week!

A huge thank-you to everyone involved with the Wisconsin Veterans Fishing Camp, Wounded Warriors in Action, Healing Patriots, and all the volunteers who help get our veterans on the water. There's something special about the healing that happens in a fishing boat.

To all our veterans, thank you for your service! 🇺🇸

🎣 Fall fishing is still going strong, and cooler water should bring even better opportunities!

Good luck, tight lines, and FINS Braids everyone!

See you at the bait shop!
