Ghosts? We can handle those.

But moisture hiding behind a beautifully finished basement wall? Now THAT gets our attention. 🔍

This Halloween, we're talking about what really gives home inspectors the chills and why the right equipment, experience, and a trained eye make all the difference.

Read our latest article for a slightly spooky look at the things you don't always see during a home tour.

If a home inspector walks into a basement and sees a ghost, at least there's no question about what they're looking at. A suspicious moisture meter reading? Now that's a different story.

Could an inspection BEFORE listing change the conversation AFTER an offer? 🏡

As home inspectors, we often uncover conditions homeowners didn't even know existed. And sometimes, those discoveries happen at a particularly stressful point in a real estate transaction.

But what if some of those concerns had been identified earlier?

In our latest article, we're exploring pre-listing inspections from an inspector's perspective and we'd love to hear from the professionals working directly with sellers.

Realtors, do you recommend pre-listing inspections? Have they helped your transactions, or have you encountered situations where they created additional challenges?

We'd love to hear both sides of the conversation!

Well, that's one way to get a second opinion on the electrical panel! 🦇⚡
Our inspector certainly wasn't expecting this little surprise during a recent inspection.
Just another day in the life of a home inspector - you truly never know what you'll find!

I’ve found some pretty interesting things during home inspections, but this one was a little shocking! Although, I’m guessing he was more shocked than I was!

Buying a home? 🏡 Before you start figuring out where the couch goes, make the most of your home inspection!

We're sharing 10 questions every buyer should consider asking their inspector, because a great inspection is about more than just the report.

A little curiosity goes a long way! 👇

The home inspection is underway. The inspector is checking the electrical panel, evaluating the plumbing, looking at the roof, and examining the home's major systems.

Radon testing isn’t just something to think about when you’re buying a home.

Because radon can’t be seen or smelled, testing is the only way to know the level in a property.

In our latest article, our environmental technician explains how 48-hour radon testing works, what the numbers mean, common misconceptions, and what happens if the result is elevated.

Homebuyers have a lot of questions during an inspection. How old is the roof? How is the HVAC system performing? Are there plumbing or electrical concerns? Is there anything that needs immediate attention? Then comes another common question: “What about radon?” Unlike many conditions evaluated d...

“You’re being too thorough.”

It’s a comment home inspectors hear more often than you might think.

But when does thoroughness become too much and when is it exactly what the client hired an inspector for?

The answer may have less to do with how much an inspector finds and more to do with how those findings are communicated.

It’s a comment home inspectors hear more often than you might think: “You’re being too thorough.” Sometimes it comes after a long inspection.

You hired your home inspector. The appointment is scheduled. Now what?

From whether you should follow the inspector around to what a 60-page report really means and why even brand-new construction deserves a closer look - there are a few things every buyer should know before inspection day.

We’re sharing some lessons learned from 30+ years in the inspection industry, including why the inspection report can still be useful long after closing.

What are you really paying for when you schedule a home inspection? 🏠

We’re hearing more buyers ask whether certain parts of an inspection can be skipped because they already know about an issue, often in an effort to reduce the fee.

But what you already know about a home is only part of the picture. The real value of an inspection is often discovering and understanding what you don’t.

We shared some thoughts on what really goes into a professional home inspection and why the price alone doesn’t tell the whole story.

Before asking, “What can we remove?” maybe the better question is: “What could we miss?”

What Are You Really Paying for in a Home Inspection? We hear these questions every day: “How much is the inspection?” And increasingly: “Can we make it cheaper if you don’t inspect everything?” “I already know the roof is old.” “The HVAC is being replaced, so you don’t need to look...

🌧️ Heavy rain doesn't create most defects - it often reveals them.

Many of the issues we identify during inspections exist long before the next storm arrives. Severe weather simply makes their impact impossible to ignore.

In this video, we're sharing real examples from our recent inspections, including:

➡️ A basement flooded when city's sewer system became overwhelmed during heavy rain, causing sewage to back up into the home.
➡️ Rainwater entering through a missing chimney rain cap.
➡️ An improperly installed sump pump discharge system that wasn't directing water away from the home.

Whether you're buying a home, maintaining your current one, or evaluating storm-related concerns, a thorough inspection can help identify defects before they lead to more extensive damage. Early detection can make all the difference.
