FLASH LIGHT TRICK: One of the many ways we identify mold in your home is the flash light trick. But it isn’t even really a trick. Its changing the angle of the light source.

Check out the pictures.

First one, light shining straight at the joist. You can kiiiinda see something.

Second picture, flashlight is at the bottom of the joist, shining up. Instantly, you see all the peaks of mold!

🦠 Stachybotrys (Pronounced: “STACK-ee-bot-ris”)

Typically know as the “black mold” (it’s not the only one), but is one of the most well-known toxic molds found in water-damaged homes.

Is commonly found on:
• Drywall
• Wood
• Ceiling tiles
• Paper-backed materials

⚠️Why this matters:
This mold thrives in areas with long-term moisture problems and poor air quality.

Possible health symptoms include:
• Chronic coughing
• Headaches

• Respiratory irritation

The photo below is of a client that had water intrusion in the basement behind some furniture. After a very thorough inspection we checked behind the furniture and this ended testing positive for Stachybotrys. This was remediated and our client is already on the mend with their health!
