09/11/2026
September 11 is one of those days that brings me right back to exactly where I was and what I was doing when I first heard the news.
I was just outside New York City, starting my workday, when my coworkers and I watched in complete disbelief as the unimaginable unfolded in a city that was our backyard.
Like so many other New Yorkers, I had friends trying to flee the city and find safety, while others were desperately trying to reach family and friends and make sure they were okay. I know too many people who lost loved ones, friends and coworkers. I know people who should have been there that morning but, for one reason or another, weren’t — and others who weren’t supposed to be there, but were.
I think about the first responders and countless others who worked around the clock searching for survivors, and all those who ran toward danger to help complete strangers. I think about the families who lost someone they loved and the many people who still live with the physical and emotional effects of September 11 today.
Twenty-five years later, it still doesn’t feel like just another day on the calendar.
My heart is with every family who lost someone, every survivor, every first responder, and everyone whose life was forever changed that day.
We remember. 🇺🇸
